Giclées about the artist

Photo of Robert Senske

we have all shared, at one time or another, the dream of living on the coast. Cool breezes, salt air, seagulls chirping, the gentle sound of waves crashing– these images combine to produce a feeling of relaxation and reflection. Indeed, there is no denying our connection with the sea. In the words of John F. Kennedy, “We all came from the sea...we have salt in our sweat, our blood, our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch it we are going back from whence we came.”

Maritime artist Robert Senske, Jr., who has spent his entire life on the coast, first reached national prominence in 1998, when the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA) honored two of his nautically-themed paintings: Logjam! and Summer in The City. Since that time, Senske has specialized in depicting coastal imagery that reflects the heart of contemporary waterfront living. Throw in a dash of the nautical (he’s an experienced sailor) and an uncanny ability to portray water in its various moods, and you have a distinct body of work that invites viewers to forget about their troubles, relax and immerse themselves into this tranquil, dreamy waterworld.
